The climate in Taiwan is nice. The Tropic of Cancer runs through it. This makes tropical and subtropical climates. It is about 71 degrees year round. January to March are the coldest months. June to August are the warmest. Taiwan is very humid. June to October is when the typhoons come. They get a lot of rain and winds. The north part of Taiwan has a sub-tropical climate zone, while the south part has a tropical climate zone. Winters are warm and summers are hot and wet. They also have typhoons and thunderstorms. Because Taiwan is a small island it can experience different weather patterns. Ocean breezes have a cooling effect so it never feels too hot. The highlands can get cold and have snow on their peaks. Also the typhoons bring in water and can cause water borne illness, like cholera, to break out. The climate in Taiwan is changing. The temperature has risen 1.4 degrees C within the last year. This could cause big changes in rainfall and farming.
